RDA Committee

Community members can nominate for all positions on the RDA Committee.

In March 2018 the Minister for Regional Development, Territories and Local Government the Hon Dr John McVeigh MP has appointed Mr Frank Beveridge as the Chairman of the Regional Development Australia Townsville and North West Queensland Committee. To enhance the sustainable economic prosperity and quality of life in our region.

The Committee is made up of nine members including a Chairman and Deputy Chairman.

Chair, Mr Frank Beveridge

Frank joined RDA in 2016 and is the former Mayor of Charters Towers Regional Council, having served in local government for 16 years, previously as Deputy Mayor and Councillor.  Frank has been in small business for 30 years int he region and is married with four children.

Member, Mr David Donohue

Deputy Chair

An experienced company director, David Chairs the Council of The Good Shepherd Home, one of Queensland’s largest aged care facilities and a major regional employer. He also serves as President of TropLinks Inc, established by the Australian Government to export Australia’s tropical expertise.

Professionally, David is Managing Director of Townsville-headquartered QCCN Pty Ltd, a highly awarded niche stakeholder engagement and communication consultancy.

A proud North Queenslander, David and his family have called Townsville home for five generations. 

Cr Mary Brown


Mary joined RDA in 2017 and is the Deputy Mayor of Hinchinbrook. She has over 30 years experience in private enterprise, has raised six childre and with her husband has established several businesses. Ecomonic and community devevelopment for regional communities is her passion.

Chris Briggs

Mr Chris Briggs


Chris joined RDA in 2018 and is General Manager at SeaLink Queensland in Townsville. He has many years experience within senior and executive management teams. Chris previously worked with the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority as Director Tourism and Stewardship. He has also held a number of committee positions for industry associations and sporting clubs.

Member, Prof. Sabina Knight

Sabina joined RDA in 2013.  The Director of the Mount Isa Centre for Rural and Remote Health, James Cook University, Sabina is an internationally recognised rural health leader with an extensive career in remote and rural primary health care, public health and education, and community development. 

Greg Campbell

Cr Greg Campbell
Greg Campbell joined RDA in 2017 and is the Mayor of Cloncurry Shire Council. Greg also previously served as a Councillor for a term between 2004-2008 and as Deputy Mayor 2008-2012. Prior to Greg’s Mayoral appointment, he held a number of technical and managerial roles with Ergon Energy for the North West. Greg has significant experience in the energy industry with over 20 years as an electrician and various managerial roles. Greg also has a passion for agriculture and the development of rural Queensland and when he is not in the office he enjoys working on the family beef cattle property.

Cr June Kuhl

June joined RDA in 2017 and is the Deputy Mayor of Richmond Shire Council, having served in local government for nine years, previously as Deputy Mayor and Councillor.  June and her husband Gavin have operated a grazing property in the Richmond shire for almost 40 years. June is passionate about the shire and its future potential.

Cr Jack Bawden

Jack joined RDA in 2018 and is Mayor of Carpentaria  Shire Council. He is Chair of the North West Queensland Regional Organisation of Councils and a member of the North West Queensland Regional Roads Group. Jack also operates an auto electrical/mechanical work shop in Normanton.

Cr John Woods

John joined RDA in 2018 and is a councillor of Burdekin Shire Council and runs a home maintenance service. He has been with the council for 18 years, 10 of which he served as Mayor. John is Deputy Chair of the Northern Alliance of Councils and President of the Home Hill Harvest Festival Committee. He has also served on a number of boards.


Casual Vacancies

RDA Committee members have been appointed for periods of between two and four years. Committees across Australia will have casual vacancies from time to time.

The Australian Government is accepting nominations to fill these casual vacancies from people with the capabilities and expertise to contribute to the development and growth of regional Australia. These nominations will be considered for casual vacancies as they arise.
